PROJECT 1
Pharmaca Integrative - Inventory Purchasing Software Support
Objective: Transition a 26-store chain to an automated purchasing custom software application, replacing the need for live inventory analysts and purchasers at each store.
Role: As the sole remaining live purchaser, I was selected for this project due to maintaining the tightest inventory in the entire chain. My responsibilities included:
Conducting critical purchasing communications with vendors and handling shipping logistics.
Performing triage and bug tracking to identify and document issues in the new software.
Communicating identified issues to the development team and following through to resolution.
Enhancing the software by ensuring it met the needs previously fulfilled by human purchasers.
Process:
Assessment and Planning:
Conducted a comprehensive assessment of the current inventory and purchasing processes.
Collaborated with key stakeholders to understand the requirements and objectives of the automated system.
Implementation:
Actively participated in the software implementation process, integrating the new system with existing workflows.
Provided critical feedback to developers based on hands-on use of the software in a live purchasing environment.
Bug Tracking and Resolution:
Identified and documented over 100 bugs and issues during the initial rollout.
Worked closely with the development team to prioritize and resolve these issues, ensuring the software's functionality and reliability.
Training and Support:
Assisted in creating training materials and documentation for store staff to facilitate the transition.
Provided ongoing support to store managers and staff during the transition period.
Outcome:
Successfully transitioned the 26-store chain to a fully automated ordering system within the projected three-month timeline.
Personally resolved over 100 known bugs, significantly enhancing the software's performance and reliability.
Achieved seamless integration of the automated system, leading to improved inventory management and operational efficiency across all stores.
Impact:
This project not only streamlined purchasing processes but also demonstrated the value of user feedback in software development. My hands-on involvement ensured that the software met real-world needs and laid the groundwork for future innovations in automated retail systems.
