In Memoriam - Woo
by Aryana Farsai
Gregory Anthony Clarke, AKA Woo, was like the ocean to me, always present, and no matter his mood, he was a force to behold. We got along, he appreciated my sovereignty, and I appreciated most things about him. Well, actually, I respected him and considered him family. We didn’t say so many things over the years, but I knew he knew of the special place in my heart I held and will always hold for him. He was a gem, a solid kernel of goodness in this city, he embodied the spirit of San Francisco.
Only a couple of people knew of his compassion for me, that was his way, he went out of his way to be kind, and he didn’t boast about it, in the moment OR afterwards. When I was very upset a decade ago, he literally gave me safe harbor, and I will never forget the kindness he did for me then. It’s been over a year without our Woo, I miss him again and listen to his old mixes, again. He was one of those magnificent spirits you always remember, they are so special - and him, well he was my true spirit brother and I knew he knew, and always we were chill. Everyone creates the world around them, and Gregory tirelessly endeavored to make the world a better place, one bright smile at a time. Photo is of us enjoying an awesome underground space.
Soundcloud playlist that I made, compiling some of his sets: ‘Requiem for a Light Being’ https://soundcloud.com/aryana-farsai-878640797/sets/woo-requiem-for-a-light-being
“In Loving Memory: Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
